Thousands of constables and sergeants across the country are qualified at Step 2 of the National Police Promotion Framework (NPPF) and seeking promotion. With less promotion opportunities, this means more competition for fewer jobs; all at a time when there are significant challenges around workforce demands, planning and morale. To support forces to make accurate, objective and fair assessment decisions we have developed POINT.

With four rank specific tools designed for promotion to sergeant, inspector, chief inspector and superintendent, POINT provides a credible sifting tool effective in identifying the most able performers. POINT has been developed by our Chartered Occupational Psychologists working alongside serving police officers.  It is designed to assess a candidate’s ability to consider and action a series of rank specific operational, people and organisational issues.

POINT offers:

  • Operational content – presents candidates with a number of work related issues to action as part of a shift handover and assesses their ability against the key requirements of the role.

  • Administrative ease – candidates enter their responses directly onto our secure on-line system reducing demand on your staff.

  • Assessment – responses are assessed by our team of trained and highly experienced policing assessors using best practice techniques.

  • Quality assurance – assessments and scores are quality assured by our team of Chartered Occupational Psychologists.

  • Feedback – candidates receive a personalised feedback report; raising awareness of their strengths and areas for development.

  • Diversity & inclusion – Reasonable Adjustments and personalised accommodations can be made for candidates with specific requirements to ensure the assessment is fair to all.
